As a property manager/renovator……….don’t mess with other peoples personal property, i.e. a landlords apartment. If you don’t like the paint……just ask first, volunteer to pay for the paint and use a decent paint, not shit from Walmart.

I still wont let you paint because I already have spare paint…..the same color in all the rooms and in all the apartments…..its a modern off grey, not that yellow/builder beige crap…….but if you paint, the landlord cant touch up after you leave.

AND I know you’d do a crap job and paint over outlets and switches, get paint all over the casing and baseboards, drip on the floor etc.

Tenants are animals that tend to shit in their own cages.

And don’t use adams advice about the bucket and screen, that only works for exterior and major remodels, it wont work in an finished floor occupied apartment where you don’t want to make a huge mess.

It took really big brass balls to stand up to Adam in front of all his supporters like that. Really big BADA$$ balls. I agree totally, especially the part about renters shitting in there own cages.

Ryan with the dimmer switch: CAUTION!!

Yeah, you turn the dining room lights on and flip breakers until they go off, butt your not safe yet! Remember, you’re working in a 3-gang box, and those other two sets of wires may still be LIVE! I get that you don’t know what the third one does. Make sure the one you do know about is ALSO switched off at the breaker. Then make a serious effort to avoid going anywhere near the BLACK wire on the mystery switch. They can both be bad, butt the black one is the most dangerous.

It would really be nice if you could get an $11 voltmeter from the store and test the white and black on the mystery switch, just to see if it has power to it. Short of that Do Not Touch those mystery wires with your hand or screwdriver. And it would be nice if you didn’t touch them with the new dimmer switch, when you are pushing it into place. Maybe temporarily slide a piece of cardboard from a cereal box next to the mystery wire(s), so you can push the new switch in and not possibly make contact.
